I don't need a response? I honestly just want to compliment someone's performance and if I include a SASE I feel like it will be asking for a response when all I really want is to just pass my message on. But it seems like everyone says it's rude not to include one, so, just checking...

No, if you are just writing a letter to compliment someone, there is no need for a a SASE.

No, it isn't rude. I guess it was almost two years ago when I gave a certain actor a personal note wishing him a happy birthday, etc. Sircumstances worked out so I was able to hand deliver it to him actually on his birthday. I had met him quite a few times before that night, but after that, he associated a name with a face. (For better or worse.)

What the hell is a SASE?
Nevermind. As soon as I posted that I figured it out...

From a person that's sent many short stories and plays to magazines and theatres, and included many SASE, and still get no responses (and when I do it is a form letter), I'll say no, it is not rude if you don't include one, especially in this case. Now if you were submitting a play or a short story, that's different.
Nah. If they feel the need to respond, they'll stamp & address an envelope themselves. (Not bitchiness, it's happened to me.)
