I'm a student and would like to know if it is worth buying a membership to TDF? I plan on visiting NYC 3-5 times between today and Dec 12 of next year. I usually see a show each day I'm there, via student rush or TKTS. If it is a hot seller show, I usually buy full price in advance (done this for Lion King a few years ago, Wicked soon after it opened, Color Purple, and Drowsy.)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

if you're only going 5 times, i'd still say it's probably still worth it. we've gotten great discounts on tdf....my mom was able to see spring awakening in previews from it....and due to the good reviews, it disappeared from tdf haha....but we've seen sooo much stuff and the seats are good...so i'd say it's worth it

Absolutely worth it. 25 bucks a year to buy 30-something dollar (or less) seats? GREAT DEAL! However, bear in mind if that if you are ONLY in town for a short time a few times a year and therefore not flexable as to when you can go to the shows, that your show selections will be limited to when and if the availability of the shows/seats come around. If there are shows that you REALLY want to see then buy tickets in advance or take a chance at TKTS. Have fun!

Without a doubt worth it. I have this and PlaybyPlay. I won't be renewing PlayByPlay. But TDF is how I see a large amount of my theatre.

TDF is the greatest investment you can make if you like theater.
In the last two weeks I saw Spring Awakening, The Apple Tree, and High Fidelity. All for under $35. You will save the entire cost of the membership when you purchase your first ticket. Also, once the dead of winter rolls around many more shows will become available.

Yes, I've been a member for 18 years and it has brought me rewards many times the cost of membership even more so with etix when you always get your first choice and as opposed to the days when you had to give three and you might not get your first choice.
