Hi guys, I'm coming to NY from the 9th-22nd, and I was thinking of doing:
10 Next To Normal
11 God Of Carnage
12 In The Heights + Hair (already booked)
13 Toxic Avenger + Rock of Ages (already booked)
14-17 I'm in Chicago
18 Altar Boyz + My First Time
19 Bye Bye Birdie + (?)
20 (?) + (?)
21 (?)
22 Home
Can anyone tell me whether this is sensible? I've checked the times to make sure these all fit, but should I do it in a different order? Is there anything I have missed out - I have a few free slots...

Well, afford is a relative term... I've never seen South Pacific - is this a particularly good production? Not so keen on Billy Elliot as I'm from the UK and am not really looking to see stuff that we both have, but thank you for the idea!
If anyone has any tips for good things to see in Chicago, I'm also open to ideas.
Also, any ideas how to get tickets for the Daily Show? I've been on the website but the only day it's showing availability for is today! Does that mean nothing is available at all ever or is there a way of getting hold of them closer to the time?

Well, it did win the Tony for best revival, their Emile won the Tony, and the current Nellie won the Broadway.com Audience Award for best replacement (yes, not as important as a Tony but her excellent performance was recognized by the fans).
This is about as close to a "perfect" production that I've ever seen. I've stated numerous times on the board that I wept from beginning to end. Hearing that music played in a full orchestra for the first time brought tears to my eyes and those tears lingered the whole performance.

Two tickets to Shrek using the Shrektember BOGO - $139.50
Two tickets to Shrek using TKTS - $123 (roughly).
ETA: Is it safe to assume that this is September 9-22?

Oh deffinetly see South Pacific Laura Osnes gives a charming performance and is worth seeing. The Story is a classic and this revival is just wowing to say the least (You will see what I mean just by the overture)
But if your coming to New York I understand you want to see as much broadway shows as you could but its New York City! Go to the MET or seeing the viewing platform at the empire state buliding. I dont know your financial situation but your going to spend thousands of dollars on all these shows and seeing them all day after day wont feel as special, it begins to feel like just going to the movies!
Just dont forget the rest of the city. Theres so much to do but I hope you enjoy your trip!

GO SEE South Pacific... its a remarkable production.
And if you have time, go see West Side Story... its not the best production, but its still worth seeing.

Broadway on Broadway is also September 13th in Times Square. That might be a cool thing for you to check out. I believe it starts at noon.
Also, I went to go see the Daily Show a few years ago and just showed up at the studio early in the day and waited around. Granted, there were only 2 of us but we just did standby tickets and ended up getting lucky. We did wait for a couple hours but man, was it worth it.

Eris and others: Yes, it is September 9-22. And I think I'll have to go and see South Pacific now! Was deliberating about Shrek... will see how I feel! And not sure on Bye Bye Birdie yet either.
Wendilin - thanks for the tips about TDS and BoB! That's definitely something I'd be interested in seeing. I'd really like to go and see the Daily Show, so if it is filming that week, I might try that :)
Saveusmike - I will be making time for the other stuff, don't worry, but I've already been to NY a couple of years back and done most of the touristy stuff. I need to do Moma and Met but that's about it. I've got all the days to potter around town, at any rate, and the time in Chicago similar.
I might spread out the shows a bit more, but we shall see. And I hope I don't end up spending thousands of dollars!
