I red an article in The Wall Street Journal about the phenomenon of Wicked and it says, and I quote, "Other revenue streams include a movie version and possible tie-ins with products such as Sprint cell-phones and green M&Ms." There you have it...it is now official! Now, let us pray that you-know-who and you-know-who-else will be in it.

I got that, more or less.

But, more or less, I'm not really excited.

But what would excite me even more...or less...would be Idina in a big Green M&M suit and high heels talking about why...NO...no...SINGING about why we shou....NO...no...BELTING about why we should ea...NO...no...SCREAMING about why we should eat chocolate.

Idina would make one sexy M&M.

As for the movie version of Wicked, I had this idea for a while, but wasn't willing to post it on here, as I know how much some of you dislike Wicked. I can just see Defying Gravity now...

The M&M thing, it could be a commercial, and the Football fans would be like, "What the heck is Wicked, a golf musical involving witches from Oz?" These people...

Rights to hit shows get usually get sold right away, though. I don't think this article is an indication that the film will happen soon. Look how long it's taken Rent to make it to the screen. Those rights were sold years ago.

I agree with Kringas. It took Rent a long time to get up on to screen, it would also be overkill to make Wicked a movie when it hasn't even been on Broadway for five years. I see the movie coming out in 7-10 years.

lets just hope that rent and the producers make a big impact on who gets cast in movie musicals..so there are no more renee zellwegger-esque fiascos in our beloved musicals

They wouldn't have to do a film just to do the M&M tie in, I'm shocked more shows haven't already. They can have Green, Pink, Whit & Black M&M's and sell them only at the Theatre - I'd imagine they would have some hefty candy orders!! They could do one of those light up lollipops for "Phantom" - the possibilities are endless! I wish I owned a big candy company - I'd make a fortune!
