Items permitted in the theater

So with the crazy weather and seeing shows I am posed with the questions: Can stick umbrellas be brought into theaters on Broadway, meaning can I bring it to my seat with me? (by stick umbrella I mean the ones that are not compact able). I'm wondering if I will be allowed to hold onto my umbrella or if I will be asked to place it in storage since it is not compact able? thanks!

I have never had an issue with large umbrella. I usually stand it between the armrest and my seat.

Never had a problem with stick umbrellas.
