JAMES & GIANT PEACH -- Broadway bound??

Found out, via Facebook, that the contemporary theatre songwriters Pasek & Paul (EDGES) are currently working on a big "James and the Giant Peach" musical. Ahh!!

Called my sister at Goodspeed. She said they're currently workshopping it there, with approval from the Dahl estate. Probed further and was told that Graciela Daniele (...ISLAND, RAGTIME, CHITA, GOODBYE GIRL) is directing!!! I was also told that Pilobolus, that dance company that was on the Oscars, will be handling special effects and staging.

Anyway. This is so so so exciting and just wanted to let everyone know about it! I'm shocked that they haven't posted a Press Release. I LOVE pasek & paul. I've heard that they're hoping to eventually get it to Broadway.

Has anybody else heard about this?!?! Am I the only one??? "James" + two of my favorite writers? Sign me up, baby.

Well if Disney did it, I'd hope they'd pull a Mary Poppins and take the best from the book(s) and the movie.
(But they're not.)

I just think the songs from the film are great. "There's a city that I dream of very far from here" Any other songs might almost pale in comparison.
