Very nice article about JLY now being a Jersey Boy---living in Hoboken, while doing the show. The last paragraph stated "On the day of this interview, Young's first contract extension was about to expire, but his agents were working on another one. At deadline, word was that he'll remain with the show for quite a while. Young also has a one-year talent-holding deal with ABC but says, "I am only interested in leaving the role of a lifetime for something that I've either always wanted to do or for the elusive other role of a lifetime, which would render the saying "role of a life" null and void""

Glad to hear JLY is extending his contract. Does anyone know if Christian Hoff will be extending his when its up in May?
Christian extended for another year back in October.

Unfortunately, it's not in the online listing of the paper---only on the printed version (in the "entertainment" section). It's a huge 2 page article---with some very nice photos. I don't know why the paper didn't post it online. The paper's website is: www.northjersey.com.
If anyone could scan it, that would be great!

I copied the above quote directly from the newspaper. It just said "quite a while". I can scan the article---but don't know where to e-mail it (I'm not the best computer person)

Also, it's not Hoboken, it's Jersey City...

You're right----I wrote the Hoboken w/o rechecking the article. But---the quote was taken right from the paper. The title is "Big Boys Don't Cry"

I wonder how much his new contract will be...
I've heard that he currently is getting $15,000 a week (plus a cut of the merchandise sales), and he only does 6 perfs, right?

He might live in Hoboken now... I know that he moved a little bit ago after Tony season. But if it was a typo he could very well have just moved to another place in Jersey City.
As for his contract... do you really have a reliable source to comment on 15K a week and a cut of merch sales. I feel like that is something that very few people would know...
I don't believe he is making that much money.
And why would he get a cut of merchandising?
15,000 a week is a ridiculous amount. Multiplied by 52 weeks, comes out to around 780,000. Um, what? Unless my math is wrong, which it very well could be, but that amount sound insane.
your math is right and that number is ridiculous
Another exageration people hear and believe as fact.
Like that he got that TV contract.
Or that he is waiting for a great project.
divide it by three or cut it in half and we are in the ballpark. Cool though that he wants to be stay on Broadway-but who wouldn't when you get to create and play a role you were born to play?

He does have a deal with ABC, there is no lie there, so don't insinuate that there isn't.
I do think that 15K sounds real high though as well, but who knows now a days, but the cut of the merchandise makes no sense either. I'd be willing to guess he is in the 10K range... that is what Kristin and Idina were making in Wicked back in the day.
JLY did tell me that the producers of JB are making a profit of $1 million a week.
Compared to that, $15K seems like peanuts.

The producers's gross is a little over $1Million, but that doesn't mean that is their profit.
I am sure JLY knows that as well.

A note to all the JERSEY BOYS fans who've been waiting patiently for news: I'm beginning a new six-month extension, May 1st, after a week's break. Will be in town, though, to announce the 2007 Outer Critics Circle nominations, April 23rd, and perform at the New York Pops annual gala at Carnegie Hall, April 30th.
Who is relacing him during vacation? I'd like to see Michael Longoria in the role
Travis Cloer told me that while he was gone all of his understudys were going to get to go on. So I am guessing that Travis and Mattew will split the shows in the week and Michael will do the ones on Wed. and Sat. but I dont know for sure.
Wish I was there during this break - I'd love to see Matt and Travis on as Frankie (already seen Longoria).

I finally found the online article in the Bergen Record. To access it, go to www.northjersey.com and click on "entertainment" on left column. Then click on "on stage", then on "theater". Scroll down to April 15 and you'll see the article that starts "life at the top's a little turbulent for "jersey boys" star, but who's complaining?" No photo, but a good article.
