Just got back from this and wow, it was truly magical. The first half of the concert was Jason, Kerry Butler, Krista Pioppi, and Jenn Colella singing Jason's music which was wonderful. I'll put as much as I can remember:
Old Red Hills of Home
I Could Be In Love With Someone Like You
Gettin' Out
A Friend - Krista Pioppi
Flying Over
Hopalong - Jenn Colella
Letting You Go - Jenn Colella
Anywhere But Here - Kerry Butler
But then out came the original cast of Songs For A New World and they did:
The Opening/The Deck of...
I'm Not Afraid of Anything
The River Won't Flow
Stars and the Moon
She Cries
King of the World
Hear My Song
I think I had goosebumps the entire time. It was so great for me since I wasn't even aware of his music at the time that the show played and thus, I never got to see it. The entire show was fantastic and it was PACKED!!
PS- Raul was there.
I honestly think "Mr Hopalong Heartbreak" is one of the greatest Uptempo songs written for contemp musical theater. And Jenn Colella just adds to the greatness of it.
I'm so jealous!

Well be jealous of me, too.
OK, not going to lie, it was really good, but not amazing. What happened to Andrea Burns?? I hope she was just sick, but she had NO belt and barely had a mix. Anybody know if she's OK?
- Brooks was flawless as usual.
- Jessica Molaskey was very standard.
- and Billy Porter took "Billy Porter" to a whole nother level...INSANE. At the end of "King of the World" he just went up like an octave...and stayed there....the whole end. Crazy.

Yay! Lol. I went to the 10:30 show, that didn't start until well after 11:00! Glad I stayed though! I just got back, amd I'm exhausted, but I'm going to post some stuff tomorrow!
I cannot wait to hear more reviews!!! I <3 JRB.

Went to the 8 o'clock. Had a great time. (Food too expensive, even the bottled water). Colella ran away with the whole evening with "Hop-a-long Heartbreak" (Great Song). When she said it was from "Urban Cowboy" she got applause and she quipped "Good, NOW you clap!" Someone has to find another show for this girl-she's the "real thing".
Can someone post more about Krista....
I really wanna know how the Wicked singing contest winner did outside the craziness of Wicked Day...

Krista was really good.
I was mad that she wasn't belting anything crazy, but then I remembered that she's only 13. She was still really good, I just wish I could have been blown away.
Anyway, can someone who was at the 8.00 at least verify that it wasn't all the amphetamines and Andrea really did have trouble? Either way glad to hear she was doing better for the 10.30.
I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it, do you know when his next concert is? in new york?

I was at the early show and I admit and agree that Andrea Burns was not belting at all. In fact, I think she was sick...She was definitely not singing, and she kept losing it the last JRB concert where she sang afraid.
I love her. I think that we have all spent the last few years hearing our amazing female friends belt the **** out of that song, and we are shocked when she doesnt.
