Which show? While I'm fairly sure the right monologue could serve for 'The Last Five Years' and 'Songs For A New World' (does the latter have any dialogue?), 'Parade' is a different kettle of fish all together.

Posted: 8/12/08 at 3:06pmThere is nothing really decent in The Last 5 Years. Besides the "Book Conference" scene, everything is located in the middle of songs and usually takes place, as Bway said, over the phone.

Posted: 8/12/08 at 3:17pmI would try looking for a monologue by someone else. Isn't using monologues from musicals (even to audition for musicals) usually a no-no?

Oh heavens, I would NEVER recommend a monologue FROM 'The Last Five Years'; just saying that if you picked one to audition FOR 'The Last Five Years', it'd probably be unsuitable FOR 'Parade' as well.
So... you'd be looking for something serious, American, early twentieth century, preferably the south. Early Tennessee Williams is probably too obvious, right? Hmmm. :/

Are you male or female? What's your age range and what part are you going for?
