For those of you who have been asking, I have been told if everything works out James Barbour will be involved with A Tale of Two Cities as Sydney Carton in the workshop next year (maybe this year. hmmmm it was worded badly) and possibly beyond. I'm not saying there isn't a possibility for change, but they want him and he wants to do it so it's fairly certain. That's all the info I have for right now, but hopefully I'll have some new news about the show soon. (I was told it was ok to share this so please don't shoot me.)
Very cool. I thought he was great in Assassins. It'll be nice to see how this works out.
Have I mentioned yet today that I love James Barbour?
Gunn, I just got an e-mail from some TOTC guy thanking me for ordering the CD.
Oh No, this is bad. Twin, I have the CD...that was my ONE thing I had over you. If you have it too...oh no we're even in the eyes of the Gunn.
*clears throat* This thread is about T2C...not me. Now I expect a full review of the cd when it arrives ~ff~.
On this board you and TOTC are synonymous.
You're right, but if it ever gets to the point where I threadjack every thread to talk about A Tale of Two Cities stop me.
Twin, is being even with me really all that bad?
Honestly.
Besides, Gunn doesn't want either of us.
He wants to be with ATOTC for as long as they both shall live.
Threadjack? You? Never!
And of course being even with you isn't bad, Twin. I don't think we need Gunn anyway. We'll find ourselves some other boy toy.

Not exactly late breaking info. Its been posted on his site, he did the workshop this summer, and he stated it in an email to people on his mailing list. I think he'll be great in the role though!
I saw a workshop of the show several years ago, where Alex Santoriello (Jill's brother) played Sydney, and he was breath-taking in the role!
Even back then, the show was spectacular!
I WILL have a guy on Valentine's day.
Oh hell, who am I kidding?
Twin, be my Valentine?
I know it isn't that big but I hate posting anything that isn't fully verifiable. The only thing NEW about this is that the feeling is mutual. Like I said I'll hopefully have some more news in a week or two.
And if you really loved me you'd wait for me. You'd wait for me until the end of time!
I'm sorry Gunn, but Twin and I are going to be Valentines this year.
You missed your chances, baby!
Twin and I don't need you!
HA!

Fingers crossed that James Barbour remains involved in this project. I think Sydney is a great character and James was wonderful in the reading. Given more time, he'll be able to make the character even better.
I have posted my adoration of JB before -- I hope this makes it all the way to NYC for a fully-mounted production - this man is a talent!
I am so looking for this show to make its way in Broadway. Thus I need to give my opinion honestly. No offese, I just want it succeed.
I only watched the public reading and concept recording. Barbour's Sydney is the best thing in it. Sydney's song is not that good, but Barbour makes them sound beautiful and heartbreaking.
The biggest problem I feel is the music. Too plain and simple and predictable. The only great part of the show is Mme.Defarge. Her two songs "out of sight, out of mind"and "trial"are the highlight of the show. However, the rest is not that good.
I also feel the joke is not that funny. I love this show and really want to watch Barbour in it. He is a perfect Sydney. However, I feel there is a lot need to be improved before it make to Bway.

*sigh* I love James Barbour.
Sanda, glad to hear you say more than just "It sucks." which I have gotten before. Thank you for putting thought behind what you said. I can't believe I didn't see that you had posted on this thread earlier. I don't remember if I had PMed you about the show before (cleared my PMs a few weeks ago) but I'll keep you updated as I hear things about the show.
