Thanks, Dre...let's hope others collaborate to the list as well.

Just got back from another amazing show !! We had great seats, right behind Jeremy and his "magic piano" (he is so good !!)
Deborah Gibson (still Debbie to me!! :)), looked and sounded great.
She did a tribute to Eartha Kitt, and sang "Santa Baby", and then did a great "On My Own"-
I didnt get to hear James do "This Is The Moment" last week, since he added it at the 2nd or 3rd show, but heard it tonight, and it is phenomenal !!!
Michael Hayward-Jones was present again, and sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" (he really has a beautiful voice)
The audience participation was hilarious again.
More talk of a possible "Tale" tour, but less hopeful that it will get recorded due to the cost.
Really need James to do a CD !!!

Thanks, Testing, once again, for the great report! Lucky for you to have such great seats,...wow!
Did something "different" happen tonight? On his blog James talks about Debbie sort of "rescuing" him (talking about the concert), and "lessons learned"...
No recording sounds like a real downer, though... =[
Oh, and again, song list, please? :)

Eris,
You must have been right near us!
We were sitting at the corner table. I had a black turtle-neck sweater, and wife had black top on.
Thanks for posting the list--- Dont forget "I Hear Bells" done 2x ! LOL
re: James Barbour @ 'Sardi's' - #30
Posted: 12/28/08 at 5:16pmI believe you were behind us. We were at the table perpendicular to the piano. I was right on the end and had to keep moving every time someone wanted to squeeze by. I wad on a red lace shirt and my friend and I were six geese a-laying for 12 days.

Thanks for the list, Eris, you are the first to be so detailed :)
So...it looks like a good half of the songs were not from Christmas...but the choices are really great. And it seems like audience participation was top notch fun, was it?
re: James Barbour @ 'Sardi's' - #32
Posted: 12/29/08 at 6:46amJames calls it Holiday songs, and Broadway classics (that you have never heard before) :))

Looks like the set list is going to be changed up alot for the last 4 shows. Most of the holiday songs replaced with Broadway standards/classics-
Very cool !

Just got back from the show--- set list was the same. James had mentioned on his blog that he might remove some of the holiday songs (I am thinking he might do that for the weekend shows since they will be after the New Year. )
Also, he was a bit cryptic, but looks like he will be back at "Sardi's" again to performin February. :))
He mentioned "Love Songs"- Not sure if maybe a concert to coincide with Valentine's Day, or a stint like this current one.

Testing, was tonight with Marla Schaffel? I was dieing to go to this one but sadly couldn't make it, and really just can't make any of the others
! Hope for concerts in February that'd be awesome! Did they sing "Secret Soul" together? I wonder...they were singing that song all over when Jane Eyre was on Broadway!
bwaybabe2, the song "Measure of a Man" is from the Frank Wildhorn musical "Rudolph: The Last Kiss". I don't think it's going to transfer over here at all, but it was produced in 2006 for it's world premiere I believe in Budapest! A foreign-language album was released I think as well, but not positive. I believe this was the foreign production Brandi Burkhardt was somehow involved! Perhaps try to translate that title and then translate the lyrics if you're "desperate" enough!
And that is extremely upsetting about the song list. I'm assuming Jeremy is Jeremy Roberts -- Linda Eder's old pianist who is now doing lots with Frank (since Jekyll obviously!)...it's his record company that will be "releasing" (hopefully eventually) Dracula, the musical with Barbour in the title role! Maybe he will get together with the Tale team!
And PS: Jealous that you all got to hear not only "I Can't Recall" live once more, but "This is the Moment"!! Real treat!
re: James Barbour @ 'Sardi's' - #36
Posted: 12/31/08 at 1:26amYes...Jeremy Roberts. On Saturday James mentioned that he did all of Linda Eder's albums.

Yes, it was !!!! She is hilarious !!! The didnt sing a duet together. James explained that they didnt really have enough time to rehearse. Marla sang a "Hanukah" song (that was hilarious) that I believe they said was from "South Park"-
Its about Jewish people on Christmas. VERY funny !!!
He was extremely cryptic, but it sounds like he will be going back to "Sardi's" in Feb !!! Not sure if just a Valentine's show, or a number of shows like this run.
THAT would be amazing !!!

Hey, great idea, philly03! I think I will try that!
No...the only "desperation' I felt was when trying to get the lyrics to come up =[ No matter "where" I clicked, nothing...
Maybe your idea might work
Testing...did he actually "mention" Sardi's, or did you assume it? I know you said he was "cryptic", but I just wondered how you figured Sardi's...

He said it VERY quickly.. (and, on purpose...LOL)
I am just about positive that he said "back here" ---
Now, that could have meant NYC, but I think he meant at "Sardi's"

Looks like James will be back at "Sardi's" from 1/31- 2/28, doing more concerts (love songs!), but believe the shows are Saturday evenings only.
EDIT: Valentine's Weekend shows are Friday, Sat & Sun,
2/13- 2/15

Thanks, Testing...I'm so glad that his Christmas concerts went so well, and now he's doing this...it should be a great night for couples to attend as a Valentine outing...
I've heard Sardi's is a great venue, BTW...people seem to love it.
re: James Barbour @ 'Sardi's' - #43
Posted: 1/3/09 at 3:06amBTW, Testing...shouldn't we start a new thread on this one...? Since this one is for the Christmas concerts? Just MHO :)

Yeah, I thought about that, but figured people might complain--
so, being that the Holiday concerts were just about over, just decided to change this thread a bit.

Testing...may I suggest something like: "Love songs concert @Sardi's" or "A love songs concert: James Barbour & friends" or even "Sardi's concert: Barbour and friends". Just suggestions. I know what you mean about the "complaining", though ={ ...but just do it :)
Here's another: "Valentine's @Sardi's, with Barbour and friends"
BTW, did you get to go to any of the last concerts...? What was the song lineup? Also, I'd like to hear comments about what he talked about, etc...
Does Hayward-Jones have any projetcs coming up...?

Was there last night, and it was amazing !!
The best show yet---
Think Jill S. was there, and seated at the front table were Mario Cuomo and Kenneth Cole (and families)
Natalie Toro and Keven Earley were there. Kevin really has an amazing voice !!! (not sure of the name of the song that he performed, but what a set of pipes !!)
James added the song from "Hunchback" back into his set list. Such a beautiful song !!!
Natalie sang "Ave Maria" (sp?), and then came back right before James closed with "I Can't Recall" to sing "Out of Sight, Out of Mind"- it was phenomenal !! She received a standing ovation, and nearly blew the pictures of the wall !!!
James mentioned the "Love Song" concerts again with the exact dates. There will be special guests again.
Its not listed on his blog yet, (although tix ARE on sale), so thats why I have been a LITTLE hesitant about starting and new thread, but as soon as there is an official link, I will post.
