I'm truly sad. I adore her in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and actually prefer her small reprise of Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend in the courtroom than the full-fledged number. RIP.

I'm very sorry to hear this sad news.

I loved her in the movie of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." She projected a down to earth quality, a person who appreciated life to the fullest, and had a good time enjoying it.

She was also excellent as Joanne in "Company."

She will be missed.

I also saw Jane Russell as Joanne in the original production of COMPANY. While not having the scary force of Elaine Stritch, she brought something else to the role, a sexy, sultry quality that made her final scene with Robert much more believable. Ms. Russell still had enough of her old Hollywood charisma and star magic to make you watch and listen to her "Ladies Who Lunch." Yes, her best screen performance was as Dorothy in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," but she always brought an amused aspect to her blatant sexuality in most of her films, and was a perfect foil for actors like Robert Mitchum. Rest in peace, Jane.

Once more for one of the best ever Hollywood stories, urban legend or not:

Jane Russell was asked by a reporter how she reconciled her deeply held religious beliefs with her voluptuous figure.

Ms. Russell asked in reply, "Are you saying that Christians can't have big t!ts?"
