I enjoyed Manley a lot as Roger in RENT.

"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

manley was a good Roger when he first started on the ANGEL tour... but after a while, his voice started to go... and towards the end of his run on Broadway, he just seemed bored with it. i mean, in the MIDDLE OF SCENES when his mic was down, he would be having conversations with the band............

RENT is notorious for sound problems.

I missed some big news...Manley Pope was up for this part??? I really can't stand him. He always played with his sleeves when he sang-very distracting!
Anyways, yay for Jarrod! I love his voice!!!

This is true.. but this instance was not a sound problem.. Manley was sitting there, on the stage. His mic was down cause he didn't have any lines, and in the middle of the scene, he was chatting with the band and laughing.

Chrysanthemum, not only was Manley Pope up for the part...he had the role in its original run as Goodspeed.

My only real problem with him was that fact that he squinted through the entire show. His voice isn't awful, and while his acting does leave a bit to be desired...it was mostly that damn squinting!
