Hey everyone, I've rarely started a post but I just got back from seeing Jay Johnson's show The Two and Only. It's one of the best things I've seen in months. It's absolutely adorable and honestly moving. I know the show is having trouble marketing itself because it's a bit of an odd sell so I wanted to try to help spread some word of mouth. Not only was he hysterical (my personal favorite is Darwin the monkey. LOVE HIM) it's also a lovely piece that gives some of the really interesting history of ventriolquism and mixes in his own personal journey. I don't believe that before this I've ever seen a ventriolquist but I have to say, it's fascinating to watch. So it really is a fun evening. Just my two cents. Oh they also have a website thetwoandonly.com that has a couple of clips of his characters (including Darwin) which is also fun to watch.
You have great taste. I see it tomorrow for my third time. See it! DARWIN IS ADORABLE! But the snake is my favorite. Even though the snake reminds me of Sueleen.
Just to add my two cents. This is a beautiful and poignant performance that if you have any chance to see should not be missed. Immensely talented, very funny and a story told from the heart.
So nice to hear a well-constructed play for a change, with a good, human story, even placed in the historical context of the art of ventriloquism, and a piece which touchingly honors other practitioners of this art.
