He went on as Roger (11/5) and was very impressed with his performance. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Cary Shields, but Jay was amazing. I have become somewhat numb to the show, so I don't get as emotional as I sometimes do, and last night was the first time I have shed tears during Goodbye Love in a long time. His performance was very moving.
Has anyone else seen him in this role? If so, how did you feel about him?
It was very interesting with the two leads being understudies (Colin Hanlon was in for Mark). The rest of the cast seemed to be having fun with them all night.

I've seen Jay as Roger three times, and loved him only the first time. His Goodbye Love is powerful.
I love Jay and all, and he is mighty pretty to look at, but I must stay faithful to Shields.

Posted: 11/6/05 at 5:22pmhow did colin hanlon do as mark? hes usually gordon right? i liked his voice when i saw him, so itd be interesting to hear how he does as mark. i saw jay play mark and i was very impressed.

Posted: 11/6/05 at 6:29pmI just saw today's matinee with Jay as Roger. He was my reason for going and he didn't disappoint. I've never seen him as Roger, and I thought he was terrific. I'm glad he's on Broadway as I thought his singing was underused on One Life To Live. In Rent, he really gets to show his stuff!

Colin was great. He was really funny, especially during Tango: Maureen. He kept making Merle laugh and she could barely get through the song. It was hilarious. So yeah, his performance was solid, not to mention the fact that he is a cutie!
ps: safety-hell yeah my picture is hot! It's Idina in a catsuit! Who by the way was also amazing in SWIWS yesterday!

Posted: 11/6/05 at 7:57pmstephy, glad you liked Colin as Mark. I also think he's very good. Just a comment on TM, though. Mark is supposed to make Joanne laugh in that scene. Every Mark and every Joanne do it. :) It's in the script and blocking.
