The problem is there's no way of telling beforehand how someone will actually be able to handle 8 shows a week in that part. These problems don't appear until they are well into doing it for a while.

I've never counted, but I'd be really curious to know just how many actresses have been able to do it regularly over time without vocal problems and how many have not. If I had to guess, I'd say about 50% have run into difficulty. How does a company deal with that when the actress is already under contract? And how is anyone supposed to know about these problems beforehand?
