Jennifer Hudson on "Movies Rock!"

I expected a lot more from Nicole S. for some reason, it's sad that the two singer's who actually attempted to pay homage to the original(Nicole and Usher) failed miserably. (Nicole's accent just ruined the Monroe sound she was going for.) Also what the hell was that tossing that fur thingy off the stage?
Fergie's performance made me cringe. Why does she have to affect her voice so much, someone needs to explain to homegirl that it does not make her sound better or more soulful, it makes her sound terrible, even more so when she's live and there's no digital clean up.
As far as Jennifer goes, the woman can do no wrong in my eyes/ Singing with emotion isn't really something that singers today are known for. I think we expect a little more from J. Hud because of her gospel background and it's such a shame to see someone with such a powerful tool sit on it. I'm going to chalk this performance up to age. I think eventually interpreting and emotion will come soon, remember this is the same chick that gave us chills during AIATY and One Night Only.

Ooh! Somewhere Over The Rainbow was a bit of a mess even for those of us who love Beyonce. It was just a little off.

I've just watched a few of them on... that site. I thought Jennifer's was powerful and beautiful though not as emotionally affecting as it could be, obviously. But as far as a concert performance outside of the context of the show and story, I thought it was pretty fantastic. Certainly a great showcase for that amzing voice of hers.
I actually liked Beyonce a LOT. Not sure why I don't see a lot about her here. I thought hers was heartfelt, extremely controlled and just enough "Beyonce" without being too much, like so many of the other performances. Very nice.
I also enjoyed Carrie Underwood's performance. I love her voice. Lack of formal training doesn't equal a lack of talent of performance. Its simply a different sound. Wasn't an amazing performance, but I did quite enjoy it.
I can't even bring myself to watch Usher ruin something as magical as Singin' in the Rain. Not happening.

Yeah! Finally someone who agrees with me about Usher's performance.
He totally ruined that song for me. It is so amateurish - and the dance steps aren't even done right.
Thank God Gene Kelly wasn't there to see his masterpiece turned into talent show night.
