Jennifer Love Hewitt--Broadway bound???

I don't know if this was a joke but this morning a couple of DJs were talking about "Garfield the Movie" and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
They apparently think she is the hottest thing and one said he'd heard she's in negotiations to do a musical on Broadway so they wanna roadtrip to see her...

I have never heard her sing and I'm assuming her music hasn't set the charts on fire...has anyone heard her sing? I guess she'd be up for the ingenue role in something?

Has she ever done anything on or off-Broadway?
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Well, she has had a CD out before, I believe. She is nothing SPECIAL. Her voice is just another Hilary Duff/Ashlee Simpson type. I also had this Barbie Workout Video from a LOOOOOONG time ago and she sang the workout music and she was in it. Her single on MTV was called "Barenaked"

She's not bad.
Back in the 80s she was on "Kids, Incorporated", which required her to sing a great deal.
(she went by the name "Love" back then.)
She's much better than Hilary Duff.

Her voice is definitely better than Hilary Duff's. It's sorta similar to Ashlee Simpson's though. I think Ashlee has nodules on her vocal folds though. Kinda sucks. The other J-Lo could come to Broadway. I'd prefer to stick with people who are trained in musical theatre though.

She sings a song on Disney's "Hunchback II" soundtrack that I love !!! Its called "I'm Gonna Love You".. Her voice sounds pretty nice in that song, and she is very attractive. Might work. Who knows??

Maybe J-Lo-Hew can play "Nicky Pignatelli" against Christina Applegate's "Charity Hope Valentine"....and then they can get Scott Baio for "Vittorio Vitale", and Lark Voorhies for "Helene".

The possibilities are endless.

I do not believe she and Patrick Wilson are still together.

I did love her as "Sarah Reeves" on "Party of Five" and never forgave her for leaving for that horrible spin-off "The Time of Your Life"

omg if any of the people mentioned in this thread(minus Patrick) ever come to Broadway...I'm throwing myself out my window! Ashlee Simpson is absolutely awful and can't sing for anything! And if it's possible she might be dumber than Jessica.

I think she dated Patrick for about a couple of nanoseconds as she was bouncing from guy to guy after her break-up with Carson Daly (just happened to catch part of her "Love Connection" episode on E!).



Foolish, foolish girl to let a guy like Patrick Wilson slip out of her fingers (or maybe he gave HER the walking papers!)

well they could throw her into chicago as roxie or velma- she can't possibly be as bad as certain other former celebrity roxies.

She actually has a decent singing voice. There are a few roles (not very difficult ones) that I could see her playing on Broadway.

Actually, Jennifer Love Hewitt started her career in music. She was a recording artist before she was an actress, though she was much more successful in Japan than in the states.

Anyway, I think she'd be much better than some of the rest of the stunt casting that's been going on (Mel B. in RENT, for example).

I LOVED Kids Inc. It was all I watched when I was little. I think she is an okay singer and she can belt. I think she would be able to do some broadway stuff but again it's just another tv/movie celeb crossing over and I don't always take them so seriously.
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

Belle would probably be her best shot. If they're going to stunt cast her, they'd probably want to make her one of the larger roles in a show. So I think Nessa is out.

How about Audrey in Little Shop?

But seriously, if she can belt and look pretty, how about Maureen in Rent? Can't be any worse than SOME of their recent casting choices.

I could see her as Audrey in Little Shop, but not in RENT as Maureen. I'm sure she would be able to pull it off, but I see her more as Belle and Audrey.

ooh and if she does a musical, then all 3 main females from "Party of 5" will have done professional musical theatre. Lacey Chabert of course played Young Cosette years back, and Neve Campbell was a ballet girl and understudy Meg in the Original Canadian Phantom cast.
