Jerry Mitchell at Hairspray in Boston last night.

Posted: 10/15/05 at 12:02am

I took another visit to Hairspray in Boston last night. Jerry Mitchell was giving notes to the dance captains during intermission at the back of the theatre. Three new cast members joined since I went last Sunday. Peter Matthew Smith is now Brad, Rashad Taylor is now Duane, and Steven Cutts is now Gilbert and the Seaweed cover. Melissa Larsen was on for Penny. She was great!

How was the rest of the cast?

It's cool that you saw him there though.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I posted a review on Monday. If I knew how to include the link I would, but I'm kind of computer stupid. The show is great. It's the best Hairspray I have seen yet. And I ADORE Keala!

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

Last night the orchestra section was nearly half empty. How about tonight? I think I may go again one last time on Sunday if I can get a good seat at Bostix.

Rashad and Peter Matthew are now in the cast? Hmmm...maybe there are just temporary replacements.

Steven Cutts started performances in Norfolk.

Caissie should have been back in tonight.

I'm still waiting to hear about the recent LEGALLY BLONDE workshop with Laura Bell Bundy.

I hope he lets her bring it to Broadway.
