No desire to see this - see the movie with Bogie
Best courtroom drama was Inherit The Wind IMO
Loved his direction of Civil War among other things

I've been told he's talented...surely his work on ANYTHING GOES, GUYS AND DOLLS and SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE was pretty good, but recently, his work has been dreadful.
His deplorable direction for BYE BYE BIRDIE at City Center followed by his wretched LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES has caused me to despise the productions, despite their material. I really don't have any faith in him, or this production.

At one time Zaks had a real flair for comedy. His production of HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES (which starred John Mahoney, Swoosie Kurtz and Christine Baranski) was flawless and one of the highlights of my theatregoing life. His GUYS AND DOLLS, ANYTHING GOES and SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION were also outstanding. Other than SIX DEGREES (which was actually more satirical comedy), he's never shown a knack for drama, let alone a taught, intense drama like Caine Mutiny (were Dan Sullivan and Doug Hughes busy?). He does seem to have lost something over the years. Not sure why (though I think he's half blind these days -- he totally mistook me for someone else when I met him a while back). I have a wait and see attitude about this production.
