Jersey Boys - They finally got it right!

I saw Good Vibrations, Lennon and All Shook Up! (best of the bunch)

But, they finally got it right with Jersey Boys. This one is WAYYY better than the forementioned. Saw it last night with wife (who's a bigger critic of most shows than I), and thought it was GREAT! So did she! I'm already checking for tickets after the opening to see it again. I think the rest of the audience agreed. I hadn't read anything bad about the show on this board, so went in thinking it would be good (seemed unusual not to see any bad reviews at all). And it was!!!! I was suprised, actually. It had a great story, great music, and great actors. It's still in previews, so they may change it a bit, but it looks like very little tweaking is necessary. There's even a guy from "Good Vibrations" in it (Titus Burgess, who is also very good)! The guy who plays Frankie has a fantastic voice, and the guy who plays Johnny DeVito is right-on....

Go see this! I think it will around for quite awhile, though!

Oh - we were in the second row (B101-102). That's too close (unless you are an NBA player), since the stage is raised quite a bit. I think 3rd row or further back is better, my neck is a bit strained from looking up a lot. Side seats in the front look really bad, especially on the right, where a stairway blocks your view.

Sorry to start a new thread on this, but I think the "They finally got it right" says it all for this play, which I won't even call a jukebox musical - it's too good to be called that.

Great review, glad you had a good time, but something i wanted to ask about ( and not trying to flame you ) so do you make up your mind before you see a show on what other people say on this board ?
"I hadn't read anything bad about the show on this board, so went in thinking it would be good "

Cause would you still have liked the show if 30 people had said it was crap ?

As i said not flaming or looking for a fight, just wanted to know...
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

re: Jersey Boys - They finally got it right!

I see many shows (wife and I go whenever we can, seeing "Dogmusic this Thursday off-off Broadway, we live in NJ). It just turns out that usually I read good and bad reviews here, and this time I didn't read anything bad about this show (which I thought was unusual). So I went in with higher than usual expectations I guess, which I didn't think the show would be able to live up to. But I was pleasantly suprised that it did! I always form my own opinion while/after seeing a show, but I do read this board to see what others have to say. If you read lots of others opinions beforehand, it does tend to make you have higher or lower (as was "Good Vibrations") expectations before even seeing the show. I didn't really dislike Good Vibrations either (even though about 95% here seemed to hate it), but this is SOOOO much better!

And yes, I would have liked the show even if 30 people had said it was crap, but might have gone in with lower expectations, that's all. This show easily met my higher than usual expectations!
