Okay, so last night I was given tickets to attend a preview of Jersey Boys here in vegas. Not having seen the show before I did not know what to excpect, I was absolutly blown away. This is not only the best show I have seen in Vegas, but one of the best I have seen period. The show is currently playing at the new Palazzo resort, in the Jersey Boys theater. One of the greatest things about Vegas is that the theaters are built for the show. This is a huge gorgeous theater. Alot of legroom and stadium style seating. The cast was uniformly terrific, most I think were pulled from different productions of the show.
Even though broadway shows have done so-so here in Vegas. I have a feeling Jersey Boys will break the mold, the way Mamma Mia! did. This show is Vegas. Hell, Franki Valli still performs here. The audience was insanly receptive and gave standing ovation as soons as the first cast member came out and bowed.
I pretty much loved everything about this show.I loved the dialouge of the book and of course you can't beat the score. I love the use of lichtenstein inspired artwork on the screens. And of course the brilliant intermission films of old vegas back in the 60's.
So if in Vegas go see Jersey Boys, it's a fantastic production. And yes it is not cut. The show is in it's full glory.

Thanks for the great review.
I'm hoping one of my friends can get me tickets.

I am going media night, and I hope it is as good as you say. I am not a big fan of Franki Valli, but will give the show a chance.
Yours,
Carolyn

I saw Jonathan Rodriguez as Pesci in San Francisco, and I enjoyed his performance. He was funny without being overly spastic. They did something kinda funny with his hair, though.

Somewhat. Jeremy Kushnier was in the Chicago cast and John Altieri and Erich Bergen were in the Sherry tour. Everybody else started in San Francisco as "the holiday engagement cast," although Rick Faugno had started with the Sherry tour as Joey, then Frankie alternate.

Not exactly:

Neither was I! And I'm still not! But I still love the show.

Posted: 4/10/08 at 1:33amI've seen a couple of musicals in Vegas and even as a musical theater fan, it just seems weird to see a show there. If any show can work in Vegas though, it's this one. I have a feeling they are going to do very well.

Actually, Lauren Tartaglia was intended as the swing for the Vegas cast, I think.
She was just filling in for Melissa Strom until they found someone else.

But she still came from another cast!
