I am going Friday! Friday will be my 7th time rushing and my 8th seeing the show. I did not write this, someone from the JB group I am in on FB did. It is very helpful. This instructions worked for me.
"For those who haven't heard of the Jersey Boys Rush Seats, let me explain. Rush Seats are tickets for the front row and approximately 40 scattered seats in the theater that go on sale the day of the show. These seats are limited view. I REPEAT, THESE SEATS ARE LIMITED VIEW. This means that you won't be able to see some of the stuff in the show. Because they are limited view, they are only $25 dollars. Also, there is a limit of two tickets per person.
Let me explain the view you will be getting for that price. If you get one of the ten front row seats, you will only see about half of their bodies. I think a person sitting next to me at one of the shows described it best when she said, "I stood up during the encore, and found out they had legs!". If you get seats in the back of the orchestra, you'll be seeing the whole picture, but there may be a little problem with seeing up on the balcony and the screens.
While both types of rush tickets are good, I prefer the front row ones. I think seeing the show in the front row is amazing. When sitting there, they are literally right above you. It's amazing. If you sit in the back, you're just seeing a really good view, but you're kind of far away...
Here's what you must do for the front row seats:
1. Arrive at the theater no later than 9 o'clock. Tuesday-Saturday, the box office opens at 10am. Sundays the box office opens at 11am. Don't let the 11am time fool you. Weekends are harder to rush because of the people off work, and more tourists.
2. Understand that with the rush tickets, you can only by two per person. If you have a group of 10 going, you must have five people. You don't have to buy two tickets, but if you have a group, you can't bring one person to buy five tickets.
3. Remember, there are only ten front row seats. I said earlier that I suggest getting there no later than 9 o'clock, but I get there at 8. Weekends are harder to rush, so definitely try to get there earlier.
3. Not a must, but I suggest bringing something to do, and maybe even a folding chair or a blanket. You're going to be sitting or standing for approximately 1 to 2 hours. It may get boring.
4. Feel free to ask the people in front of you how many tickets they're getting. We always do this. I always think that you should assume the worst. If there are five people in front of you, they could all be buying two tickets. With tourists, I think many of them come in groups, and they're buying more than one ticket. I've never encountered someone who got angry that I asked them how many tickets they're getting.
Let me just say, rush tickets are the key to seeing the show many times. With rush tickets, I've seen the show 8 times. Of those 8 times, I've seen 7 of them in the front row, and one in the back of the orchestra. Front row is so much cooler.
A tip for sitting in the front row is to get a cushion. My new friends Kathy J. and Linda just tipped me off to this last weekend, and with the cushion and sitting on my feet, I swear, I could see much better.
Also, I suggest not using front row rush tickets for someone who has never seen the show. They could be disappointed that they're not seeing a whole lot.
Also, remember that the people in the row behind you paid $125 dollars for their tickets. So if there's a bit of a limited view, it should be worth your money. They paid full price, and they've got the same view as you, only a teeny bit better.
I think that's all that you really need to know. I think the key to the whole thing is to be early, and have fun! What we've learned is that sacrificing a few hours of sleep for cheaper tickets is worth it. If you need coffee or something, there's a starbucks on State and Adams, and there's a McDonalds and a Caribou Coffee down Monroe past the theater. Just have fun, and hopefully, it works for you :)."
