You're absolutely not alone! No one can love everything, and just because something is a hit and has a substantial number of fans doesn't mean everyone who sees it will come away feeling the same thing.

My friend wanted to see Jersey Boys because of all the things she's heard about it from people at her work. She knew I loved the show, so I brought her along with me when saw it one day. This was when the current LA cast was still in SF. She bascially came out the theater with the same feelings you had. She thought the actors were great but the show itself didn't live up to all the hype that she heard. She still enjoyed it but it was overhyped for her that it wasn't what she was expecting. So your not alone.

I don't care what it is. I hate jukebox musicals. And that includes Mamma Mia.

I want new songs. New book. New staging. Is that too much to ask? Or am I in the wrong generation?

The book itself in this case is based on a real-life story, though -- do you want no more musicals based on real-life stories?

I'm more on the side of arguing Jersey Boys isn't even a musical. It's a play -- a play where you have to have the music of the Four Seasons in order to show what's going on.

I totally agree, except for the "Jukebox Musical" part..... The writers, producers, Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio and the rest of the creative staff themselves said that this play did not fall into that category.

They have a story to tell based upon real life situations occurring in the Four Seasons' career and personal lives. That's what makes this play a success!

its okay, tobias. one cant like everything. i know you loved the recent company revival and I couldnt help but feel bored the whole time...haha. and yet you were underwhelmed with jersey boys, and ive seen it 3 times! haha. we all feel differently about different things. thats what makes theater so great!
