Hi all! Has anyone been to this event on Mondays? I've always been curious if it was worth it and I was thinking about going when I'm in town later this month. Any reviews would be appreciated. Thanks!

You mean as a spectator? I've only been as a performer, because I wanted to see how a couple of my songs did in front of an audience, and I thought it was great! They have a "no ballads" rule, which keeps the evening light and fun, and Jim is a great host, very funny and affable.
I'm not sure what the cost is to be an audience member, but I know Birdland can be a tad expensive. Overall, though, it's a good way to see a wide variety of music and singers, if you're not in the mood to see a specific show. The talent can be hit-or-miss, because anyone can get up and sing, so don't expect all of them to blow you away. But the bar is pretty high in NYC, so you're bound to see some incredible up-and-comers and maybe even someone who's already made a name for themselves!

Yes, I meant just as a spectator. Thanks for the information, it is very helpful. I looked and it sounds like it's pretty cheap cover ($10 I think) and there will probably be a food/drink minimum, which isn't a huge deal. I think I'll check it out. I'll report back with my experience!

Hey! It's me, Jim Caruso! Please come hang out at Cast Party some Monday night! We start at 9:30pm, and go for about three hours. It's always a blast, and we never have any idea who will be coming through the doors to entertain us! The onstage trio is brilliant, the energy is high, and I have a feeling you'll have fun!

Have been a couple of times. The food is expensive as are the drinks but u only need to nurse 1 maybe 2 depending on how long u stay. The performers are usually great and as a previous poster mentioned often there to try out new materiel/ Caruso also is a very upbeat host chatting w the performers, giving them a nice build up. Not a Brilliant night but usually good fun and hey it's not like there is a bunch of options Mon nights!
