Joesph in London

Joesph in London

Joesph in London#0

I just returned from a journey to London to catch new shows. Everything has been said about Mary Poppins, Guys and Dolls and Billy E. So Iwill skip adding..
We took in Joesph on our last night. Is the show supposed to be campy? I have had the music for years and had yet to see a live version. I was shocked at how campy the show was.
I litterally saw cast members talking to each other during numbers. MID SONG!
The guy palying Joesph pranced around the stage a bit like Norma Desomd at the end. I was so taken aback. He had a wonderful voice, but I could not get past the high school mentallity of the cast chatting it up!And the "join in and dance with us" curtain call really put my American reserved butt over the edge.Interesting idea.
Anyone have a similar experince, or have I caught the show on an off night?

H from the pop group steps was awful. He actually started doing the "whoo whoo" thing you do at discos when you 9 thing.

This is why the production closes 27th August.

Originally supposed to close April 2nd but Blue Man Group werent ready. BMG will enter the theatre from the autumn

It's an extremely bad production of the show - it's been touring since the time of Moses and is quite badly directed. The 'proper' version at the London Palladium in the early '90s was infinately better (though still quite camp, come to think of it...)

This production was just an insult in the musical itself! The Palladium version was WAY WAY WAY better!

When i saw this production was so pissed off cos it was crap and brings down the reputation of Joseph. I saw it twice at the Palladium and thats what Joseph should be! At this production when they sang "give me my coloured coat" and shouted yes "give me my coat cos i am outa here"

thank G-D I only paid £10

Isn't the current production one of the infamous Bill Kenwright productions? I've never seen a BK show, but I've never heard anything good about them. It seems this Joseph has been running for quite some time. I wonder how it managed this long? Of course, I wonder the same thing about Fame in London. How on earth has it managed to run for 7 years?

The WE isnt like Broadway...it has a tendancy to let shows run and run until theres only a person in the audience

BLOOD BROTHERS
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER
FAME
STOMP
CHICAGO

These shows have been doing bad for years (excpet Sats maybe) but still they run...
FAR PAVILIONS will fall into the trap too

Having been to the New London, for Cats, I was thinking that it is a bit big for "Blue Man Group" no?
