I saw this this past Saturday matinee.... After the show I was a little upset that Joey ran out a different door. There were only 5 of us there waiting for him. It would have taken him like five minutes to say hi and sign. Glad to hear he signs other times though.
Are you sure he "ran out" a different door? I didn't even know there was a different door at the Ambassador. I saw Grey Gardens Saturday night, and as I was cutting through the driveway of that one hotel between 48th and 49th to get back up to the subway, I saw Joey out on the sidewalk taking pictures with people. Since he is new, it seems likely that he could have just been busy working on things inside the theatre for a little while between performances.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 7:14amI just saw the matinee of Chicago, this past sunday. It was my first time seeing it on stage. I found it to be very enjoyable, once I accepted and understood the premise of the story was being told in a "night club act" style. I was pleasantly surprised with this show, having only seen the movie version. Regarding the cast, I thought they all did a fine job. I especially enjoyed Bianca, who I thought was great. I also enjoyed Brenda's performance. I was underwhelmed with the opening number, but she impressed me through the rest of the show. Joey Lawrence, I felt did a fine job. He made the role his own and I felt that he made a nice transition from TV screen to stage. I agree with Raspberry's comments, Joey has great delivery and appears to be truly commited to the role. Overall, I had a great theatre experience and would recommend this show to my friends and family.

I've seen people come out from the box office area so the people waiting might have missed him. And you never know, he might have snuck out of the doors where the audience exits after the show. If everyone is concentrated on the stage door, they could have easily missed him.

I hate to hear that some people hate Brenda, she was amazing when I saw her. It did seem as though she had done some of the scenes over and over before(she has for like four years so.....whatcha gonna do), but I did still find her entertaining. She was my first Velma. I saw her when Bebe was playing Roxie(an amazing pair!).
I do find it interesting that she dances like a 20 something year old but really is 50 going on 51. I think she is the oldest woman to have played Velma. Her age really doesn't show.
Love her!
(It's kind of funny, because over the years I have seen her on posters and advertisement for the show. When I think Chicago the broadway musical, I think Brenda Braxton.lol)

"Speaking of Robyn Hurder... is she still with the show?"
"Yep! She's there until either June 1 or July 1. I believe she said July when I asked her but for some reason I can't remember which. But she is definitely still there :) "
She's going to be playing Marty in Grease.

I saw the matinee today...I really enjoyed Joey. I never cared either way about him, but ended up loving him when he was on Dancing with the Stars last year. He just always came off as a nice, pleasant guy.
I thought he sounded great and was pretty funny and swarmy enough.
Bianca is adorable!
