How was he? I'm POSITIVE he had nothing on Raul, but could he handle all the songs? Could he handle the role at all?

He actually was quite good. Even if you weren't one of his fans from his days with the group, you'd like his performance in TTB!
Joey was terrific. Acting and singing were excellent. Almost as great as Raul.
I thought he gave Raul a serious run for his money. He also got the humor alot better, imo.

I saw Christian Campbell in TTB and he was just ok. He strained his voice way too much!!! I wanted to see Joey in the role.

I did not want to see Joey in the Boston run of TTB but once the show was over I was happy he was the lead. Great performance. His talent level truely impressed me.

My best friend who's a hard critic saw Joey and thought he was simply amazing, so into his character especially his interpretation of Jonathan's "What a Way to Spend The Day.."
I had also gone to see Christian Campbell in the tour and thought the same thing...that he was really stretching on the singing and flat a lot. But, I went back a few days later to a matinee to see his understudy Trey Ellett, who was much better.

Especially *this* boy band member, who started out doing theater before the "band thing."
Joe was very good as Jon. I did think he rushed through some of the dialogue and as a result his delivery caused some funny momehts to be lost....therefore his acting wasn't as solid as Raul (but not many people have Raul's natural ability to conform to a character).. Overall I was very proud of Joe. He did an incredible job vocally.
