From a Playbill.com article:
"San Francisco's Best of Broadway series may consider a name change to Broadway-bound as the 2005-2006 season includes four pre-Broadway shows (Lestat, Ring of Fire, Shining City, A Chorus Line).
Ring of Fire - Winter 2006 - Curran
James Freydberg and William Meade produce a musical that centers on Johnny Cash. Based on a concept by William Meade, writer-director Richard Maltby, Jr. provides theatregoers with a look into 'The Man in Black,' delving into the legend with his own music (including 'I've Been Everywhere,' 'A Boy Named Sue,' 'Hurt,' and the title track). Designers feature Richard Hoover (set), David Woolard (costumes) and Ken Billington (lighting)."
Okay...another jukebox musical? I mean I enjoy most of the one's playing on Broadway to an extent. They're fluff shows that provide a certain level of enjoyment. But...this is becoming a tad too much.

i read a "concept synopsis" of the Johnny Cash musical, it sounds a lot like AIN'T MISBEHAVIN, with which i think it shares a director/creator.
JOHNNY GUITAR was both a Crawford movie and a campy small musical of last season or the season before in NYC. The musical cast was headed by Ann Crumb, Judy Mclane (in the Crawford role), and Steve Blanchard.
