re: Jonathan Pryce- The New Lawrence in DRS?

Ben, I think Jonathan has now reached the appropriate title of "star" or at least name in which Equity can't hold him back...plus does it even still apply once they've been on broadway already? And the bigger issue in Miss Saigon was that he was playing an Asian character not the case here, so I don't think that equity would be a problem.

hey, i'm asian, and i loved him as the engineer. so, that's something.

anyways, i dont think it matters that he's not american. as we all know, everybody thinks that lawrence is british, until, you know, he makes the surprising revelation that he's american right before dirty rotten number. lawerence speaks in either a vienna or british accent the whole show, so i think that it's perfectly fine. and i think that jonathan would go along great with the show's setting.

thing is, I never knew that Lawrence was suppose to be British. I mean, I have seen the movie a hundred times before but, John doesn't really do a brilliant job of putting on a British accent. And I should know, I am British and my dad is British with an accent.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

I heard that the Post is now reporting this to be true...just sayin'.

I love Lithgow and will miss him by a week or two, but this is a true ensemble piece...

i already knew about lawrence's background. but he's posing as a european, so therefore, the accent makes sense.

but...john DOES have an english accent throughout the show. cuz when you listen to him talk in his regular accent-there's a big difference. maybe some ppl are just used to his english accent cuz he was in Shrek.

Haven't read what the Post is saying, but I understand that Pryce starts after January 8th. Not that my "reporting" that is worth squat, lol, I mean, who am I, right? ... but there should be some official announcement soon.

oh phooey, here I was excited to announce that well, take it as you want, but Jonathan Pryce is unofficially confirmed as definitely taking the part from Lithgow...well it was unofficially confirmed from quite a few ppl in addition to one if that makes any difference and me feel a tad special..

Anywayz, I'm VERY happy. "Name" w/ wonderful musical comedy talent, I could see him and Norbie working soo well, can envision an amazing rendition of "Love Sneaks In." Everyone knows I love Lithgow and the OBC and have been very worried about replacements, but no qualms with Pryce. Shall be exciting.

Wendy, jacking, but glad to educate.

That is the gorgeous, sexy, wonderful, talented Gerard Butler. He played the Phantom in the Phantom movie, also was seen in Dear Frankie, an adorable little Scottish film, Dracula in Dracula 2000, Her Majesty Mrs. Brown, and Lara Croft 2.
