His last performance was July 2nd.
I understand he trimmed the beard but didn't shave it. What a shame. he is such a cutie but that beard is hideous.

I don't have an opinion on the beard, but its continued existence makes me wonder (cue baseless speculation) if he and the producers have discussed a possible back-by-popular-demand return later this year, particularly if ticket sales / grosses lag.
I loved the show enough to buy tickets again for December, and at this point I'm merely hoping the show sticks around that long. As wonderful as Groban was, I would love to see someone else for variety's sake. But if he returned I wouldn't mind in the slightest.

"I like the beard! He almost has too much of a baby face without it, in my opinion... and I tend to prefer clean-shaven guys, so that's saying something. It seems like Comet will probably either cast another big name for Pierre or close this fall. Bringing Groban back would certainly be a lucrative move.

I speculated that it was so he could walk around a little more incognito in NYC, since far fewer people can recognize him with the beard if they aren't aware he was just on Broadway playing a character with a full-on beard.... then he just looks like a hipster LOL.
I confess I may be less likely to recognize him without the beard. Saw him at last night's performance of ASSASSINS.
