Just came back from seeing the matinee of Wicked in Boston, and all I have to say is man, that Julia Murney can SING!!! Everyone else in the cast was good, but she clearly was in a different league. What an incredible talent, not only can she sing low notes, but she also doesn't have to stretch to hit those ridiculously high ones!
Yay! Glad to hear you liked Julia.
I saw the matinee as well and she was amazing! All she needs is a GOOD role on broadway and watch out!!
I third that WOW. I was there Friday night and she was amazing. Her voice is incredible and strong.

Thats funny, I was also at the matinee today!I was my second time seeing Julia and she is just amazing. Her acting and vocals go beyond other Elphabas. I had her sign her cd which I odered offline on monday. Love the CD and love her!

So funny this thread appears. I happened to write to a friend of mine who is involved in Wicked on Broadway and I said "Julia is in a league of her own!!"
But listen..different performers, and a performers "take" on a role speak to different types of people and their many personalities...so lets not get ugly here and start getting mad because we think someone is "better" than someone else..or maybe you don't like Julia..(whatever,ahahah!) its not about being better...its just who portrays the characters the WAY YOU have always envisioned it and who "speaks" to you in the way they perform the role. Obviously, Julia touches many people with her performance and that is NEVER to take away from anyone else who has played Elphaba or any other role for that matter. As I have said before, I think ANYONE who can sing that role 8 shows a week is a FREAK! LOL!!
I love her. Infinitely.
I'm so glad people are happy with her performance.
Andrea, I absolutely adore Grover. :)

You have no idea how much I love him. Like, obsessively so, since I was a very little child.

Yeah...make sure to listen to her on the Lippa "The Wild Party" recording.
She was also amazing in "Lennon," which I, for one (don't kill me), liked. Sure, maybe it wasn't really Broadway material, but it sure was entertainment.

I figured you would have responded this one, Michael (gustof)! hehe.
She is awesome. Love the song she has up on myspace page from her cd, as well of the clips I've seen of her on youtube (sadly I haven't been able to see her in a performance).
Won the lotto for the matinee today... my first time seeing Julia onstage, and well, let's just say I can't wait to see her again ASAP. I had high expectations from all the good things people on this board have said about her, and she exceeded those expectations and then some.
She was absolutely in a league of her own. I think she brought a lot more depth to the role than Idina and her vocals just blew me the **** away! I'm glad now that I will get to see her again when the tour comes through Cleveland. I decided to play the lotto to kill the afternoon before my flight left... and thanks to Julia it was a wonderful afternoon.
On another note, am I the only one who wasn't particularly crazy about Kendra (not even going to attempt her last name at this hour) as Glinda?
I wish the tour would come back to Cincy! I'm glad Julia is STILL be amazing on tour!! how was sebastian?? (haha, had to ask!) :)

ahhhh!
I'm so excited!
I've loved Julia since my friends and I discovered "Wild Party" about a year ago!
I just got my tickets for when the tour comes to Cleveland this summer! and this thread is getting me even more hyped!
P.S.- can't wait to hear her solo cd!

I didn't care too much for Sebastian. His voice was too high for me. I've seen the OBC and the Chicago production with Ana Gastyer and those Fiyero's had a deeper voice. He wasn't bad but any means but it sounded different
I agree, Sebastian was very blah, and although Kendra acted the Glinda part well, her singing was not quite on the same level.

Yeah I just got The Wild Party (Lippa) Recording a few weeks ago and she's amazing in it. I can't wait to see her in June!
I'm seeing the tour on June 3rd in Detroit and I'm actually really excited to see julia...at first I wasn't so excited but then I actually saw/heard clips of her doing the role and she was just amazing, even in the clips...so yeah, I'm so excited to see her and I can't wait. The first time i saw the show was in chicago with kristy cates and she was super good too...i think andrew is right though about it's definitely who does the role the way you imagined it, not who is better! so yeah i'm psyched!
Sebastian was blah?? that's the first time i heard anyone say about him on this tour
oh wells...

I saw this production in Cinci and Julia was amazing! She is just perfect as Elphaba. I thought that Sebastian was okay, but not amazing or anything. Fiyero is always kind of blah unless played REALLY well, I think.
Yeah, I was kind of nervous when I heard that I would be seeing sebastian because of what I had heard on this board...but actually i thought that he was quite good and maybe that's because my previous fiyero Derrick Williams was less than stellar vocally...at least the afternoon I saw him but this was VERY early in the tour so hopefully he got better. But back to Sebastian, I thought he was good...not great but definitley very good. Considering how underwritten the character is...he did a nice job. I still think Kendra's performance is WAY too over the top and forced although she has gotten slightly better but vocally i still thought she left a lot to be desired...but Julia is AMAZING...go just for julia. If julia and Megan (who i haven't seen live but love her from what i've seen) did the tour together it would be AWESOME!
