Hey Everybody --
I saw Julie Reiber (Eden's understudy) in Brooklyn on Sunday, and I was just wondering if anyone else has caught her in the title role. I think she did a pretty good job -- her voice isn't as powerful as Eden's and her last note on "Once Upon A Time" wasn't exactly golden, but overall I was rather impressed. She's a very spunky blonde girl -- I had to do a double take when she came on stage (there was no announcement or insert or anything regarding Eden's absence).
Anyone seen her?

Honestly, is anyone else glad?
I mean if she needed a "That song is going to murder your voice, you psycho" reality check, I think sooner is better than later.
EDIT: Anybody else mad that Caren Lyn left so soon? I would have liked to see her do it.

TG2- i agree about her face. I mean come on, didn't her mom every tell her that if she made a funny face it would get frozen that way? geez
andyf- yeah those notes are insane. I went to a theatre program this past summer, and Jeff Calhoun (brooklyn producer) was one of the guest speakers. They had auditions for the soloist in "Once Upon a Time," and the girl who got it, who's belting range was UNREAL, almost couldn't do that song because it's insane. I can only imagine how eden does it night after night.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 10:01pmYes -- especially after hearing someone like Julie Reiber, who certainly could technically sing the role but wasnt a bionic invincible woman like Eden -- you could really tell that the role is really damaging to the voice. Particularly anyone with a "normal" belt range. Poor girl was bleeding by the end of Streetsinger, it sounded like.

Posted: 12/7/04 at 10:22pmShe is most definitely gorgeous -- I was sitting with a group of her friends and they were all quite kind. I think the most impressive thing about her performance is that her singing almost seemed effortless (except for the top blood notes) -- a very rare quality.
