The first chord of the overture of The Phantom of the Opera always makes me jump, whether I'm sitting in the theatre or listening to the cast recording.

Is it just me or did they tone down the whistle for Sweeney in the new production? The original CD is a very sharp and shrill whistle while the new production is not nearly as bad.

The Pillowman sounds so awesome. I really wish I got a chance to see that...

When I saw the Phantom tour last summer, the chandelier boom at the begining was MUCH more powerful than I remember it being in the other productions. Made me jump a little.

The gunshot in the final scene of WEST SIDE STORY always makes people jump.

OMG, the factory whistle on the OBCR of Sweeney Todd startles me every time! The first time I listened to the prologue with the organ music and suddenly that piercing whistle comes out of nowhere........ It made me jump soooo bad.
