Anyone get this yet? Is it any good? It's kind of expensive, but John Barrowman is on it...
Love to hear any reviews...

Posted: 7/6/06 at 8:16pmyou like John Barrowman? I just got his solo CD "Reflections from Broadway" and I really don't like it. His voice is so to weak for my tastes. It's not much of a powerhouse. Oh, and did you see the picture on the inside? What an awful picture to use. The one where he's sitting and you can see his underwear. What a horrible CD jacket. I do like "If I Can't Love Her" - but that's about it.

Posted: 7/6/06 at 9:28pmI saw Barrowman in Putting It Together - he was great - one of the best Marry Me a Little performances I've ever heard. His solo albums are pretty solid as well. I don't really pay much attention to the pictures in CDs - especially those of men. Sorry - not my thing.

Posted: 7/6/06 at 10:12pmI don't think it really has anything to do with someone's "preferance" - it's just a picture in a CD. I just don't think he's got a great voice. Maybe he comes across better in person.

I know you weren't really correlating the two.
Try the DVD of Putting It Together and see what you think. Hearn, Burnett, Henshall, Barrowman and...Bronson Pinchot (who's surprisingly good) make for a great cast.

I'll look into it. I wish there was a place to rent these sort of things. Normal video stores don't carry them. Oh, and there's a link if anyone wants to read about it.

It's a great album - it was the first proper musical I'd ever seen, and can still sing bits of it now! I saw the cast on the recording (minus John Barrowman) in Chicester a couple of years ago and it was a brilliant night out - far better than Honk!, which is mainly a kids show. Hopefully, with Mary Poppins opening on Broadway soon, Stiles and Drewe will become more well-known.
You can hear extracts from the show - as well as all their others - here:

Posted: 7/7/06 at 7:34amThe same composers' musical "Peter Pan and Wendy" (now called "Peter Pan") produced at the Hal Prince in Philadelphia several years ago with Romain Fruge and Chris Innvar (recently reunited in 3 Penny) was simply brilliant. A stirring score which was supposed to be later recorded in London but hasn't been released yet although it was done on BBC radio. "Just So" is also wonderful as is Barrowman.

Posted: 7/7/06 at 9:49amI have it. It's pretty good. Some catchy tunes, though a bit cutesy at times. The style is very similar to another Stiles and Drewe show, Honk, so if you like Honk, you'll probably like Just So. The performers for Just So are wonderful and the quality of the recording is excellent.
