sorry...something weird happened...
and she was on FIRE tonight even though the audience was filled with a bunch of old, crotchety people who were not responsive. Seriously, that woman is 60 and sounds phenomenal and looks like she's 35! I think the thing that I loved so much is that she was so alive and present in her songs. I know she's sang those songs thousands of times (and i've seen some of them before) and she totally surprised me with the different colors and little nuances she changed. She is such a pleasure to watch. If anyone gets the chance to see her, please do. Worth every penny.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 12:32amI saw Bernadette a few months back and it was a great show. She really worked the stage and the crowd and mixed in a nice variety of music and tones. And she didn't overdo the angst, which was nice. I just get bored with shows that are endless streams of self-absorbed balladeering.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 12:37amYes, I saw her where she was here in San Francisco. She really gave an incredible, fun, and heartfelt show. And she still looks and sounds stunning! I'm really hoping she records "Shenandoah" because I found her version incredibly haunting.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 12:44amI've seen that concert several times. Each time is a completely unique and wonderful experience due to Bernadette's versalitiy with each song despite the fact that she has sung them several times before.

Posted: 10/12/08 at 5:32amOMG! Where did she perform? I must've been hiding under a rock. I think there is a conspiracy to keep me from seeing one of my favorite performers live in concert. I'm glad to hear that she is still amazing- though I never doubted it for one second.

I saw her last month with the Buffalo Philharmonic. She worked her tail off for us! I was so surprised when she said that often a song will run around in her head and "beg" to be sung and then she performed "Shenedoah". I hadn't heard that song in YEARS. And she did it beautifully.
I also love how she selects songs which typically are sung by a man: "Some Enchanted Evening", "There Ain't Nothing Like A Dame",
and "Joanna". Plus her version of "Fever" was priceless.
Brava Bernadette!
