Just watched all the videos on *that site* of Guys and Dolls from a few days ago and this makes me even more mad that the latest revival on Broadway blew as much as it did. The Hollywood Bowl version sounds GREAT!!!!!

This should've been a smash success, but miserably failed....

Still I bet that it will help Jessica Biel get the role of Sarah Brown in the new remake of the movie!

Really? I think I must have been watching different videos, because for a professional production, with such a high calibre of stars, I was embarrassed for Jessica and Ellen. You could find performers in any college that can give better vocal performances than they gave. For me it was terribly disappointing. Jessica (I've been operatic trianed) Beil didn't come close to Kate Jennings-Grant.

There is no movie being planned. That rumor was extinguished a week or two ago.

Thank God from the Hollywood Bowl and the revival, I am Guys and Dolls fried. I think they should wait on the movie. Plus from what I have heard about the movie I didn't like the direction it was going! It reminds me of about a year ago with Sweeney Todd. After seeing the revival on Broadway, on tour, and then the movie, and then seeing the other 2 versions on DVD, I was burnt out on it! I really don't need to hear or think about these two shows for like 4 years. Which is sad because I love them!

Biel sounds adequate. Goodish? even. But I saw the accursed recent Broadway revival, and Kate Jennings Grant was wonderful in it. So I hardly think Jessica Biel could have been some sort of saving grace for a revival already doomed by zeitgeist.

Adequate? Goodish? Yes, maybe for a college production. But for a semi-staged performance at the Hollywood Bowl, never.
There may not be many bigger names to play it, but there certainly are better. I would love to see Kelli O'Hara play the role of Sarah, or Laura Benanti.
