Gary Beach does his last performance in The Producers tomorrow, Sunday, August 27. Can't wait to see him in Les Miz and whatever else the future brings. Hugs & kisses to Gary.

He was wonderful in the show and in the film. I saw him with the original cast as well as last December with Hunter Foster, Jai Rodriguez, etc. He was the best part of the show. I also loved him in "La Cage".
I loved him in Beauty and the Beast, and I can not wait to see him in Les Mis. Best of Luck!

Amen! :) Gary will be sorely missed in The Producers. That being said, I cannot wait to see his turn as Thenardier - I'm sure he'll do wonders with it and put his own unique stamp on it (I was talking to a die hard Les Miz fan who's seen the show dozens of times and he called Gary's Thenardier legendary!)
I am surprised however that no press release has gone out regarding this Sunday being Gary's last performance and who his successor will be. Anyone know what the story is at the moment?
In any case, congratulations to Gary on 4 tremendous years at the St. James. His unbelievable talent, professionalism and showmanship are all things to behold. You're an inspiration Gary!

You all are making it out to sound like he's leaving for good. He left to do La Cage and came back. He's leaving to do Les Mis....I'm sure he'll come back.

After "Les Mis" is over, "The Producers" is likely to be gone as well so it probably won't be there for him to return to.

They're not giving up the St. James until Young Frankenstein is ready.
Who is taking over?
Gary is a wonderful man and performer. He IS Roger. Yankeefan007 said it best inh his posts. I am very esxcited to see him as Thenardier- and I will on October 27th
Everybody on this board knows I like Gary Beach as Roger and I'm sure he'll make a great Thenadier. I wonder if he's glad to know he won't be wearing a dress this time. :)

Mr. Beach is and always will be the definitive Roger De Bris. As far as I'm concerned, everything he touches turns to gold. Looking forward to his next triumph!

His immense talent aside, Gary Beach is a sweet and down-to-earth guy. He was so very kind to my kid at the stage door for Frogs so I will love him forever.

Yeah, I saw one of his last shows. They're always fun.

I was there at his last show, and Gary gave it his absolute all and got a little teary eyed during his Judy Garland turn. John Treacy Egan gave a very gracious speech at the curtain call, wishing Gary well from all the cast and saying how delightful it is to work with him. I don't think anyone (including Gary) knows if he would come back to The Producers or not. I think it is always gratifying to get offers to do new things and work to create something new. And if you're thinking that he's played Thernadier before, well, that was a long time ago. I'm sure he will be bringing very new aspects to that character after all this time has passed. I can't wait for Les Miz and everything else that Gary will do down the road.
who is replacing Gary?
I was there last night too. And yeah, what Glinda said - he was just GREAT - i love watching final performances of guys as good as him cuz they know how to channel all their emotion into one of their very best performances.
Also something else that was cute, when Max and Leo come into Roger's house, John Tracy Eagan said "we are here to see the renowned theatrical director - and master of the house - Roger Debris". It was awesome.
I wish it seemed like more of Gary's fans were their though, but it was still awesome to be their for that.

When/where did Gary Beach play Thenardier? I hadn't heard that before.

He's done it either on tour or Broadway, many, many years ago.
I believe he did it in LA

I'm sorry to see Gary go but Lee Roy Reams was very good as Roger when I saw him in the "Producers" tour. He and Gary have both played Albain in "La Cage". I also loved Lee Roy in "Applause" and he is in the film version of "Sweet Charity". Mr.Reams also directed the last Carol Channing tour of "Hello, Dolly!".
