I wasn't there, but just had to say that she is an incredible vocalist. I hope she gets a role soon where she really gets to show off that voice.
She is still, over a year later, full on belting out that ridiculously high note at the end of the The Legally Blonde remix.

I was at the concert last night, and she was fabulous. It is amazing to me how easy she makes hitting those high notes!
She sang a variety of songs including "Ain't no Sunshine," "Drowning in my own tears (Ray Charles)," "See what I wanna see," and a couple of Brian Lowdermilk songs (who was also her pianist) including my favorite song of the night "Say the Word" from The Unofficial Autobiography of Samantha Brown. She also ended the night with "another big, shiny showtune- shameless ploy for work-you decide" number called "Defying Gravity."

I'm a HUGE fan of Kate getting a chance to play Elphaba. Only problem is that her head might be hitting the top of the fly house. :)
But seriously she's phenomenal.

I was there last night.
I've been a fan of Kate's work since her stint in the 2000 Cabaret tour and she only gets better.
Defying Gravity (with Lowdermilk playing Glinda - no really) was both hysterical and impressive. She was singing the heck out of it between laughing (along with the audience) at Lowdermilk screaming "no! let go of me!" etc.
My favorite things she did were the covers of Anna Nalick's "Wreck of the Day" (one of my favorite songs) and Jon McLaughlin's "Indiana" which were both intensely beautiful. She has an incredible voice but what makes me love her is how deeply she gets into a song when she sings it.
I cannot wait to see what she does next. She's a wonderful performer.

Yes, yes I was there last night. I thought it was pretty fantastic and quite funny.
They also did a song called "Anonymous Sex" that Lowdermilk (with Kerrigan? I imagine so, but I don't remember) wrote and he serenaded her with a song asking why she never hooked him up with any pageant girls.

I was at Kate's gig last night and it was amazing. She was funny and charming and seemed os genuinely thrilled to be up on that stage.
I really enjoyed her covering Anna Nalick and her "Defying Gravity" was INCREDIBLY impressive. Even the fact that she was laughing didn't stop her from belting her heart out on the end notes.
It was a nice variety of songs and it was really funny. Her pianist also sang a song he wrote for her about how he wanted her to hook him up with a pageant girl that was really funny.
Kate gets so into singing that it just pulls you in watching her and there was more than one time that I had to pull my jaw off the floor from the notes she was hitting.
After the show, Kate was incredibly gracious, staying for hours to greet and personally thank everyone who came to her show.
I really hope she does another show because her voice is incredible.
She also talked about how she was doing a reading for a new Michael John LaChiasa musical called "Giants" which sounded exciting.

wouldn't have missed it! she was truly top-notch. Her voice is one of the best and she has such a captivating presence.
Not only that, but afterwards she was truly gracious and genuine and stayed for hours after the show ended to talk and thank everyone that came out to support her personally.
She's going places and she deserves it!
