You'll have to scoll down a bit. I'm guessing she'd be Sophie and Nicole Kidman would be Donna.

actually I'm all for this musical becoming a movie.
Think back to the golden age of movie musicals...a lot became classics, but many flopped too...
I would like to see this be one of the flops

Posted: 11/30/04 at 6:35amPersonally I think that since Movie Musicals are just starting to really make a comeback It wouldnt be great for the Genre in General to have a flop this early in there "revival" as it were. I would like to see a few more strong musicals before there is a flop becase one flop could lead to a lot of studios not wanting to to musicals because they might find them too risky

Posted: 11/30/04 at 11:38amwhy Nicole Kidman? Whats the deal with her being a musical star all of the sudden? I love her and all, but really, her voice isn't that spectacular.

Posted: 11/30/04 at 11:50amI agree with Gravity. Wanting to see a movie musical flop simply because you don't care for the show itself is incredibly mean-spirited and short-sighted. One big flop in the genre could mean an end to all future film musicals.

Let's see.....
"i am so scared. "
Why? It's not going to bite you.
"This won't happen anytime soon, if it even happens at all."
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. C'mon, Matt_G! You nkow you want some Greek island ABBA love on the screen. I know you do!
"i love keira knightley as an actress, but can she sing?"
Not an issue. Look at most musicals of the 40s and 50s. Or Minnie Driver in Phantom. Keira is great, though. Excellent choice.
"Do we really need more Mamma Mia?"
Absolutely. I'd rather see Mamma Mia again than Phantom, Wicked, or the current state of Rent. At least Mamma Mia is FUN!
"I would like to see this be one of the flops"
Why? What would you get out of it? Or perhaps you think losing your job and your money is entertaining as well?

Posted: 11/30/04 at 5:33pmNot too excited for this, because it must be the new fad to have musicals as movies. I could handle Moulin Rouge and Chicago... but if we are going to make movie musicals, then we better be picking some real musicians and Broadway (like Rent).

Posted: 11/30/04 at 5:40pmIt's funny that people view this as a "weak" musical, but champion Hairspray. In my opinion, Mamma Mia is a much stronger musical than Hairspray!

Posted: 11/30/04 at 6:20pmboth are pretty weak...Marissa was great but really nothing is great about either shows

Posted: 12/1/04 at 12:08ami think that the show, wile isnt anything groundbreaking or amazing, is an incredibly fun show. i think it would make a good tranfer to film if done correctly, with the right cast. I think Knightly would be a perfect choice for sophie if she can sing. i don't think nicole should do it though, love her to death but i just dont think she's right for the part. i think hugh J should be one of the guys!
