Kermit, Prince of Denmark going to Hollywood?

I was just surfing around for fun and I came across Q composers Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx's site and it says that their musical "Kermit, Prince of Denmark" is going to be "a brand new original movie-musical for Universal Pictures"

For those of you unfamiliar with the story, "Kermit" was the musical the two of them originally wrote for the BMI workshop and when they couldn't take it any farther, they created their own puppet musical universe with Avenue Q

Has anyone else heard any news about this?

This is incredibly exciting, as I thought the premise was hysterical, but are they going to be able to use the Muppets? Because I think Disney owns them, unless they struck up some deal with Universal...

That's incredibly impossible. If Disney were to ever think of making another movie with the Muppets, it would be behind them and no one else. I think things have been confused. Kermit, Prince of Denmark was hailed, but was rejected by the Jim Henson company at the time. (note, not Disney) It won a writing award, but nothing else.

Way back shortly after Avenue Q won the Tony, Lopez and Marx were announced to do a movie musical for Universal. (which, at the time, many assumed was a Q film) The two projects are totally different...

Note the key word "AND"...they are two different things...
