I can't believe people get away with posting entire movies or DVDs up on YouTube in 10-15 parts!

This production is available on DVD. The quality is so-so. Actually I'm being kind. It looks like a bootleg. And it's mostly long shots, so it's hard to get involved in the performances.

I wish the filmed version (with Lansbury playing Ruth) would be released. I have an old VHS of it, and it's terrific, even though it took a bum rap at the time.

Still, I enjoy this one, too, but not as much. I do like seeing Patricia Routledge as Ruth here. She didn't transfer with it, for some reason, and was replaced by Estelle Parsons for the Broadway run ... who was replaced by Angela in the film.

Actually, this is a proshot video in Central Park, before the show moved to Broadway. It was filmed from Broadway Archives, I believe.

I can close my eyes and see the show in my mind at the Delacorte much better after this remembrance.

I worked on a televised production, shot in Toronto, of P of P which was filmed after the success of the Broadway run. It wasn't the Papp production, just basically the original with contemporary singers, including the sadly doomed Andy Gibb as Frederick and Barry Bostwick. I don't have fond memories of the taping, in the old Elgin Theater prior to its renovation into the New Elgin Pink Elephant Theater.

Actually, I just discovered that Hulu.com has the entire motion picture version on-line now, complete with Kevin Kline, Angela Lansbury and Rex Smith. I used to own the movie on the "antique" RCA video disc format, but lost it in a house fire, so I was glad to find this. The songs are slightly truncated from the Broadway version, but I always loved this movie. I still enjoy putting on the cast album and singing along with each song!

Yes, I know that. But it LOOKS like a bootleg, referring to the quality of the image and the way it was shot.

It's a very unprofessional, professional video, in other words.
