Kids/Teens who won Tonys...

I just watched my tape of the 1996 Tonys, and was wondering who the actress was in one of the clips who won some sort of Tony in 1991? She was very little and very cute.
Have there been other young performers to get Tonys?

That was Daisey Eagan, who won the featured actress in a musical Tony for The Secret Garden.
I think Frankie Michaels, who won a Tony for his performance as Young Patrick in Mame may still hold the record as youngest Tony winner...

Posted: 9/7/04 at 9:03pmYeah, Frankie is the youngest, though Daisy wasn't much older than him when she won. He was 10 and she was 11. I can't recall any other kids that have won besides those two.

Posted: 9/7/04 at 9:24pmThe youngest winner of Best Actress/Musical is Miss Liza May Minnelli at 19 for Flora.

Posted: 9/8/04 at 12:26amIf they're able to better convey a character over actors with more experience and several times their age, they sure as hell do know what they're doing.

Whatever happened to Frankie Michaels?
There's no info on ibdb besides Mame, and there's nothing besides a short stint on a soap on imdb.
It's so bizarre when these people disappear like that.

re: "Children should not win tony's, that's stupid..."
That's a tough call, but I think there are a few special exceptions. Daisy Eagan was special!

Posted: 9/9/04 at 10:01amI don't know if she felt that way when she was 13, KMC. I think it came with realizing how differently she approached performing as an adult than as a child.
