No, she's not really...I think she should be. I was thinking of who she could possibly play in Dreamgirls, and could not think of one person. However, I think she could sing Elphaba in Wicked, but i don't know about her acting. Anyone else think she should come to Broadway??? And if so, what revival do you think she'd be great in?

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

re: Kimberly locke in a musical???

Kimberly Locke is amazing and seems really nice. She seems like a class act just from watching her on interviews and stuff like that. I would like to see her as the Green Girl (Elphaba)
Can she reach those notes though? Isn't her voice a little bit lower? I can see her as a Dynamite in Hairspray. It isn't an enormous part but it would be cool.

As much as I would LOVE to see her play Dorothy, she's not a Soprano. But, then again, if they could change the key for Toni Braxton...they could change it for the Locke.
A Dynamite would be good, but Kimberly would ned a bigger role for that big voice. Too bad Brooklyn isn't playing, she coulda replaced Ramona Keller.

She could be a doo-wop girl in Little Shop?

Too much talent for an Urchin, but she reminds me alot of Aisha de Haas who played The Moon in Caroline, Or Change in both looks and sound. I would love to see her as The Washing Machine or the Moon in Caroline.

I've always thought she'd make a good Joanne in RENT.

Yes! Joanne in Rent...if not Mimi.

If she carried herself a little younger, and less maturely, she could probably play Caroline's daughter.

I concur with the Dynamite idea - she'd be phenom. They have to double as dancers for the rest of the show though, can she do that?

If I show you the darkness I hold inside, will you bring me to light?

she has a good voice but she doesn't have a high range really for those parts. i don't think she has that great of a voice. Jennifer Hudson, Latoya, Tamyra Gray, Vonzell, all have better voices IMO. and of course Kelly Clarkson.

So, would you say Locke is in the Tonya Pinkins style of quality? meaning, she can play Caroline in 20 years?

What about Erzulie in a OOTI revival? With Anika Noni Rose as Ti Moune??

I love Kimberley! Her voice is absolutely gorgeous in concert and she is definetely a very sweet person. I was lucky enough to meet her twice and I was taken with how sweet she seemed. I'm not aware of her acting abilities, and those Idol commercials during her season where she dances about with Clay and Ruben don't exactly boost her credibility. But she certainly has a strong voice and I would really love to see her as Joanne in RENT. She's got that sassy type nature to her.

Forgive my Pop-Tart-Ness, but it'd be amazing to see her opposite Aiken as Mark. I know, I know. The majority of this board doesn't think he can sing. Well, I do. Hence the avatar. And I'll stand by that. *steps off soapbox*

i'm a tough act to follow because when i'm done i take the microphone with me.

Actually, a friend at work and I were talking about them doing a one night benefit of an AI Rent. I think that would be col, though many of ya'll don't.
Clay would be Mark.
Kimberly - Joanne
Kimberly Caldwell or Makayla Gordon would be Maureen
Constantine...no Bo Bice would be Roger
Nadia would be Mimi
George Huff would be Tom Collins
That gay one from the first season would be Angel
Niko Smith would be Benny
And chorus members would include Vonzell, Jennifer Hudson, Vanessa Oliverez and Matt Wutzhislastname?

Beacause Kelly doesn't look like she could play a bad-ass

Since when does Kelly not look bad-ass. Have you seen her new videos?

Okay...maybe she could...
Sorry to say, but I'm not a AI first season fan...I did't watch it, and what I had seen from it, was unimpressive, and I never liked Kelly's songs...but I loved anika NoniRose in From Justin to Kelly.
Oh, wait...the reason being because FJTK proved to all of the world that she was a horrible actress...
But Anika Noni Rose really shined. Love me some Anika!

Anika was so sweet at the Caroline Stagedoor, I aboslutely love her. The Tony was well deserved. I was really aching for a cast recording from the Encore's version of Purlie with Anika and Lillias White.

Anika and Lillias on one CR= love.

Oh yeah, back to Ms. Locke

Anika was the only good part of that movie. She's so amazing. I wish she had received more recognition for it.
