The Oscars passed over Bill Condon's screen adaptation of John Kander and Fred Ebb's ''Kiss of the Spider Woman,'' starring Jennifer Lopez, but not the GLAAD Media Awards. Last night, it won Outstanding Film - Wide Theatrical Release,'' over 9 other movies, including ''Blue Moon'' with Ethan Hawke as Lorenz Hart.
''A Nice Indian Boy'' and ''Plainclothes'' tied for Outstanding Film - Limited Theatrical Release. By coincidence, each of them starred former cast members of HBO's gay drama ''Looking.'' ''Just in Time's'' Jonathan Groff was in the adorable ''A Nice Indian Boy,'' and Russell Tovey was in ''Plainclothes.''
Bess Wohl's ''Liberation'' won for Best Broadway Production, and Breaking the Binary Theatre's ''The Drowsy Chaperone in Concert'' got Special Recognition.
Alan Cumming was honored for his ''Traitors'' as reality TV and guest-hosting ''Jimmy Kimmel'' about ''Attacks Against the Trans Community.''
Other notable GLAAD winners included ''Heated Rivalry'' as Outstanding New TV Series and ''Stranger Things'' as Outstanding Drama Series.
Liza Minnelli made a surprise appearance to mark her 80th birthday, which will be March 12, and the GLAAD awards will stream on Hulu, beginning March 21.

In spite of the elements I found disappointing in "Kiss...", I really appreciated the update to the story line that changed Valentin's motive for sleeping with Molina from quid pro quo (in the stage version) to one of authentic love.
I also enjoyed "A Nice Indian Boy" very much. It's available to stream for free with a subscription to Disney+/Hulu. I hope "Plainclothes" will also become available for free via pre-paid subscription (w/o needing to pay extra for an add-on subscription).
