A while back, I read an interview with Kristin on one of these broadway-related websites wherein she mentioned that after her contract is up with Wicked she would be singing the title role in a new opera adaptation of Alice in Wonderland for the Los Angeles Opera. Kristin also mentioned that Placido Domingo, LAO's artistic director, would be playing the Mad Hatter.
Does anyone know if this is still going to happen? If so, I hope it all works out. It's great to know that she's also searching for roles/work that show off her impeccable coloratura. Of course, she does some of that in Wicked, but most of Glinda's role requires belting and a bit of a mix in some other spots. She really blazed a trail with that role, because it will be a challenge to find future replacements (beyond Jennifer Laura Thompson) that can traverse between belt, mix and stratospheric soprano.

So far it's still supposed to happen. The Opera will hopefully be running starting in early 2006. In the meanwhile Kristin will be doing concerts, movies, and what ever other projects come her way.
Chenoweth as in the one in the show with the witches? The blonde?
I hope Alice is more like Candide than most operas, hopefully it'll be in English rather than Italian. (just personal preferance)
It's definitely being done in English. It's being written for her, I have no doubts it will be great. I will definitely go once it opens, if not on opening night!
I like Kristin, but I think she needs to grow up already.
She can't do cute little variations on Sally Brown all her life.
No, she can't. However, she looks and sounds so young that her playing a much older character just wouldn't be right either. Everything she's done so far has been great, she knows what she's doing
There's never anything on these boards about her. Are you SURE she's a known star?
Hey, before you skewer me...I don't have anything against Kristin...I think even SHE is tired of hearing about Wicked at this point. Though I'm sure she loved doing the show, I think she will be glad to move on to other things.
God - how could she NOT be glad to move on to other things? I agree with the comment about her looking and sounding young - she can still play those roles and would look/sound ridiculous trying to play older character dames...let her play the spunky bimbette while she still can...she does it SO well.
I don't think she's sick of hearing aobut wicked at all...I don't know how to try to explain it...you have to understand her and the type of person that she is...she loves every minute of this.
I hope that that travels to Domingo's other opera house: the Washington Opera (he's artistic director). I really want to hear her doing more of that stuff.
Kristin can definitley pull off being a 10 year old.

Ok I heart Kristin...but I'm in shock that they are making an OPERA out of Alice....We put on that show at my school..and it is such a crack pipe, insane show...as most of you would know due to the fact that the guy was on drugs while he wrote it...but the show is hard to understand as it is...but now as an Opera....oooh...I so wanna see it!

Kristin will be fantastic no matter what....
Well that's a bit naive. Maybe she'll suck. No one knows.
