Where did you read that?
I read this on wikipedia and on some other disney movie sites. Also I was reading a review of 1 of kristins cds on amazon and it was also mentioned there.
I don't know when the film is supposed to be released. Srry :)

I read this a while ago. Hopefully this means Disney is going back to the original format of having its animated films voiced by voice actors and trained singers instead of random Hollywood A-Lister of the day.

I remember this being announced shortly after Kristin left WICKED. This news has been around for a while now. That and an ALICE IN WONDERLAND opera that was being written for Kristin. Is she actually going to follow through with them now?
Good for Kristin!
Am I the only one who finds it sad that the last animated Disney movie that had the actors do both the singing and the speaking was Beauty and the Beast?
In their later animated musicals they had two different people for each character. One for the singing voice and one for the speaking voice.
:) She's got the perfect voice for that!

Yeah the project initially was gonna be more of a spoof, similar to Enchanted. Dan Folger was actually involved at some point along with Kristin. She's so far the only one attached, though the film is apparently halfway complete.
And by the way, Disney's next animated venture, The Princess and the Frog has Anika Noni Rose (a trained singer) as the lead. She does BOTH the acting and the singing.
I heard that Reese Witherspoon was going to be the speaking voice and Kristen the singing voice.
Do you think KC will get to do it live when they bring it to Broadway? Gosh, I hope so!

Susan Egan did both speaking and singing voice for Hercules in 1998 and Roger Bart was the singing voice of Hercules in the same movie.
But yeah - can't wait to hear Kristin as Rapunzel!!!

The Reese thing was in the works until Reese pulled out.
Rapunzel the character is apparently going to be a bit different than your typical Disney princess. She'll be a bit more comical and will have a sense of humor.. Perfect for Kristin.
Won't Kristin be a little old to play a young maiden? I'd love to see her, but if they dramatize it, they'll probably go with someone else.
