Is this a good move for her? I mean, after the 2005 controversy of her appearing on the 700 Club I thought maybe she would have given this a bit more thought?

From the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints:Consistent with our fundamental beliefs, Church officers will not employ their ecclesiastical authority to perform marriages between two people of the same sex, and the Church does not permit its meetinghouses or other properties to be used for ceremonies, receptions, or other activities associated with same-sex marriages.

I am an older gay guy, long a fighter for equal human and civil rights, and proud of my Utah (LDS) pioneer heritage. Although I am not a member of the LDS faith, my family history with the Church dates back to 1856. I am hopeful that further positive change will come to the Church, with all members embraced and welcomed without reservation. But for now, I appreciate the Tabernacle Choir for being the preeminent American large choir that it is. If I didn't object to Audra McDonald and Renee Fleming and Sutton Foster (all friends of the LGBTQ communities) appearing as guest artists with the Choir, I certainly don't object to Kristin Chenoweth doing the same. She is a wonderful singer performing with a wonderful choir. For this one moment in time, the subtext that might be read into the event doesn't matter to me.

As a married to a man, gay Mormon, I think it’s awesome. And it’s not new. She and several others (as mentioned above) have performed many times at BYU and with the choir.

And I didn’t need to be married by an LDS church officer. There were plenty of other people that would perform the cermony for me. And plenty of places to get married...I may not agree with/understand everything the church does but I can still be respectful.

Just enjoy the beautiful music they will perform.

The Tabernacle Choir is magnificent. As a gay Catholic, I wish I could sing in their bass section. It's all about making music in my book.
