Kristin & Kelli..In Concert? OMG!!

I was reading this blog that mentions Kristin Chenoweth and Kelli O'Hara are doing a concert..together??! Wow. I didn't hear about this. Does anyone know about this?? I would so kill to see them both in concert? It's in the blog section...plus a cute pic of Kristin!! :)

Yes it was announced some time ago. It's a benefit feteing their former voice teacher at OCU Florence Birdwell:

Starring Kristin Chenoweth, Kelli O'Hara and Susan Powell, "Starry Night" is a tribute to Florence Birdwell. Ms. Birdwell's students include the three stars and many others who will drop by the Civic Center Music Hall to honor her in this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Yea, this concert was announced towards the end of the summer.

It is the Starry Night Tribute to Florence Birdwell, their professor at OCU. The performance is March 30, at the Civic Center Music Hall in OKC. I know you can buy tickets that include a special reception with the performers, so that really is a cool opportunity.

Anyways, that's all I know but there is more detailed info on the philharmonic's website. www.okcphilharmonic.com

I have a friend that goes to Oklahoma and she told me about this over Christmas break. I DIED when she told me. I would LOVE to be at this!!

I don't think Susan Powell is a weather girls. She was just on the recent Miss America. She had some show on HGTV.

Thanks for the info. This sounds like an amazing concert!! Hmm...maybe I can check airfare to OKC. Does Jet Blue go there?

And it was interesting to read that Kelli is doing Oklahoma in OKC. She seems like the ultimate Laurie!!

I have a friend who's hoping to go to OCU's Summer MT program and said that Ms. Birdwell teaches at it. Anyone know about that?

Susan Powell was Miss America 1981. She is an opera performer along with having hosted the television show. She has a glorious voice.

As a sidebar, three Miss America's have been graduates of Oklahoma City University and of course, all were Miss Oklahoma. They are Susan Powell, Miss America 1981; Shawntel Smith Wuerch, Miss America 1996; and Jane Jayroe, Miss America 1967.

Birdwell is the queen of voice. I had the opportunity to work with her, and she definitely knows her stuff.

I asked my friend who went to the Oklahoma City University Summer Musical Theater Program and she said that Mrs. Birdwell did indeed teach them during the program..she did two days of lessons. I mean, to do a summer program where you get the chance to even hear from this amazing teacher is wonderful. I think they're doing Les Miz this summer (I looove that show!!)

Also, my friend raved about the OCU program. She said it was the most rewarding thing she did and it was the most difficult thing she ever did. And she said this and didn't even get accepted to the muscial theater program at OCU!!

I think her name is listed on the teaching faculty for the summer.

Chenoweth & O'Hara in one concert? Wow...That is one freakin amazin' concert. Have they ever performed together? Were they at OCU at the same time?

Don't know about them being at OCU at the same time...Kristin graduated in 1991 with her BA in Musical Theatre and in 93 with her Masters in Opera Performance.

I think Kristen is older than Kelli. I think Kelli graduated OCU in the late 90's.

I saw some pics of Meg Mullally at OCU. Did she go there?
