'She needs to retire the kewpie doll/pageant crap;
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.'
Well apparently the 4000 people who were in attendance disagree...multiple standing ovations and thunderous, seemingly non-ending applause and cheering proved that.

Posted: 1/21/07 at 7:11pmYeah, considering I live relatively close, I'm pretty jealous, too! Kristin's performances are always amazing in my opinion, but I'm sad to see she didn't perform anything from the Music Man. I watch the movie like non-stop and I love it when she reaches the climax in Till There Was You.
MARIAN: Well, what would you like to take out?
HAROLD HILL: The librarian.
MARIAN: Quiet, please!
HAROLD HILL: (whispering)The librarian.

Posted: 1/21/07 at 7:36pmThere was never a special guest that we knew of. There may have been a plan early on but I saw the show layout a couple of days before and no one was mentioned. By comparison last year we knew about Josh Grobin joining Barbara Cook before rehearsals started.

Standing ovations are meaningless. Did you think that Kristin WOULDN'T get one? Everybody gets 'em.
I love her - I wouldn't be there if I wasn't a fan. But she was doing her same-old-same-old twinkle-munchkin bit and same songs in Act 1 that she's trotted out many times before. Sure, it's cute - but I always thought she could do much more, but now I'm wondering if I've seen her limits.
She's an amazingly talented woman who glows in the dark, but it wouldn't hurt her if she took more chances - with new songs.
And she had a full orchestra at Carnegie Hall - why not at the Met?
